House of hidden treasures
Dream figures need a dream home - and so a wonderful ensemble was created in the historic town of Annaberg-Buchholz, gateway to the Erz Mountains. Anyone who strolls along Buchholzer Strasse discovers the museum alley just beyond the market square, . When looking into this narrow alley, the viewer is surprised by a bridge connecting two buildings at the height of the first floor. While the exterior of the museum blends in unobtrusively with its surroundings, a museum landscape of over 1,800 square meters with many architectural surprises is hidden behind seemingly simple, but in part extensively restored facades. A real feast for the eyes are the rooms of the former Café Central, where the cafe's facilities as well as a painted glass ceiling are still preserved. The new house boasts a terrace offering excellent views over the city all the way to Fichtel Mountain - a must for any museum visitor!
