One collection, two countries, a common cause
The driving force behind the project is the vision of international cooperation. Because we know: cultural work can connect people with each other and bring them closer together, breaking the barriers which exist.
The Factory of Dreams is an essential building block of the cross-border cooperation between Germany and the Czech Republic under the auspices of the Center for the Erz Mountain Folk Art. To convey the common roots of Erz Mountain folk art in Germany and Bohemia is a central task of the project participants.
The district town of Annaberg-Buchholz, the town of Chomutov, regional museums of Chomutov and Most and the Chomutov Zoo have joined together in order to present the unique Dr. Erika Pohl-Ströher collection of Erz Mountain folk art and thus the life and the art of our ancestors on both sides of the Erz Mountains. Besides the Factory of Dreams, special exhibitions with objects from the Erika Pohl-Ströher Collection will be on display at the regional museums of Chomutov and Most. The Chomutov Zoo will present an exhibition entitled depicting artistic, architectural and agricultural aspects of life in the Erz Mountains starting May 2011 at its open air museum "Old Village". In addition, since January 2011, a combined ticket is established which is valid for the Municipal Museums in Annaberg-Buchholz, the two Czech regional museums as well as for the Chomutov Zoo.
We cordially invite you to explore the cultural opportunities in the Czech part of the Erz Mountains.
