Haus des Gastes Erzhammer
The Event House
The Haus des Gastes Erzhammer is a vibrant cultural center in the heart of the city of Annaberg-Bucholz. The renowned house, which boasts a 500-year history and underwent an extensive renovation in 1997, offers a diverse program of events that engagingly combines traditional folk art with modern creative work. Yearly high points include traditional events like the Ore Mountain "Schnitzertage" (Carver Days) in March and the Annaberg "Klöppeltage" (Bobbin Lacemaking Days) in September as well as the rotating exhibits of artists from the region in the stairwell gallery, the music room, or the spacious halls. The Erzhammer is also in demand as an event location for academic conferences and conventions. Its multifaceted program also encompasses concerts, readings, and revue, or discovery trips venturing into the world of science and far off lands. But the Erzhammer also offers up a first-class dance floor for dance enthusiasts with everything from waltzes to rock 'n' roll!
The Creative House
All year round the Erzhammer offers numerous opportunities for people of all generations to do creative work: in the "Paul Schneider" carving school, the "Barbara Uthmann" bobbin lacemaking school, the music room, the studio, the ceramics workshop, or on the rehearsal stage - motivated course leaders invite anyone who's interested to allow their creativity and skill to unfold and create something of their own.
